The Winnipeg Police Service is proud to announce the formation of this new and exciting initiative to enhance services to the citizens of Winnipeg. As an Auxiliary Cadet with the Winnipeg Police Service, you will gain valuable experience and insight of the inner workings of our organization.

Auxiliary Cadets are peace officers that work throughout the City to enhance the Service’s visual presence, build positive relationships in the community and allow police members to focus on core police duties. A Cadet’s daily activities vary and include:

conducting neighborhood foot patrol
guarding crime scenes
directing traffic
assisting in ground searches
receiving minor property and motor vehicle reports
enforcing provincial statutes and municipal by-laws
referring citizens to assisting agencies

The Service has secured funding for 30 full-time equivalent jobs in the year 2010, and will add an additional 20 full-time equivalent jobs in January 2011. The actual blend of full and part-time jobs will be dependant on the need of the Service and the qualified applications received in each recruitment.

December 2010 - OFFICE CLOSURES

The Winnipeg Police Service Recruiting Office will be closed on the following dates during the Holiday Season:
Wednesday, December 22nd (from 11:45 a.m. - 2:00 p.m. ONLY)
Friday, December 24th (from noon until 4:00 p.m.)
Monday, December 27th - ALL DAY
Tuesday, December 28th - ALL DAY

auxiliary force cadet class #3 - applications

The Winnipeg Police Service will be accepting applications for the position of Auxiliary Force Cadet, Class #3 from Monday, December 13, 2010 to Friday, January 21, 2011 at 3:30 p.m. Further information on the application process can be obtained by clicking on Auxiliary Force Cadet and then Selection Process.

The Winnipeg Police Service, Recruiting Office, 280 William Avenue must be in possession of a valid WPS-PAT certificate NO LATER THAN Friday, February 4, 2011 at 3:30 p.m. CERTIFICATES SUBMITTED AFTER THIS DATE WILL NOT BE ACCEPTED. The certificate is valid for one year from the date of your WPS-PAT appointment. Your application will be withdrawn from the current recruiting process, should you not hand in or have on file a valid WPS-PAT Certificate by Friday, February 4, 2011 at 3:30 p.m.

Applicants chosen for these positions may be selected as full or part-time employees.
