POINTS OF INTEREST:
The area’s first inhabitants were Aboriginal people who moved through the area hunting and gathering for medicine and food. Birds Hill Provincial Park System Plan is to preserve the variety of landscapes, including esker ridges, dry prairie, wet meadows, bogs and mixed boreal forest.
It was named after the Bird family, and Hill was included as it was a refuge during the 1826 and 1852 floods. Birds Hill Provincial Park officially opened on July 15, 1967 celebrating Canada’s 100th birthday to accommodate a diversity of recreational opportunities.
