Making Career Dreams Come True
Opening Doors Annual Parent Forum 2008 is a uniquely Manitoba event that provides parents and adult caregivers with the tools and information they need to assist their teens in making informed choices about careers.
On Saturday, November 1, 2008, from 10am-3pm, at 1555 Wall Street (Tec Voc High School), parents and teens can attend FREE informative presentations, meet a variety of Manitoba industry and community representatives and obtain tools and resources to assist them with guiding their teen's career search and exploration.
This year's presentations include Opening Remarks by Erin Selby (MLA for the NDP in Southdale and former TV personality), Careers in Aerospace by Diane Kotelko (Rocket Scientist), Careers in New Media by Cory Fransico (New Media Designer), Careers in Health Care by Melissa Morrisseau (HR Specialist) as well as a Speaker Panel comprised of Tom Prins (Manitoba Career Development Initiative), Tanya Jakob (Manitoba Apprenticeship Training) and Karl Gompf (Entrepreneurship).
In addition, parents and teens can browse a comprehensive trade show that will provide them with information on careers in various industries, post secondary education, government assistance for career planning and other relevant areas.
