포크로라마(Folklorama) 두번째주 파빌리온(Pavilion) 목록 및 소개

포크로라마(Folklorama)가 시작한지 벌써 일주일하고 3일이 지나갔습니다. 그동안 여기저기 많이 구경을 다녔는지요?

아직 마니토바 한인회에서 운영하는 한국관(Korean Pavilion)에 다녀오지 않으셨으면 아이들 손을 잡고 가셔서 구경도 하시고 봉사활동하시는 분들도 격려해 주시면 좋을 것 같습니다. 어제 Winnipeg Free Press 에 포크로라마(Folklorama) 두번째주 파빌리온에 대한 평가가 났는데 한국관 평가는 예년처럼 정말 좋습니다.

다음은 한국관(Korean Pavilion)에 대한 기사입니다.

Korean Pavilion

Churchill High School 510 Hay St. Visited Monday, 6:45 p.m. VENUE: Seats 400. Not air-conditioned. FOOD: Flavourful barbecued beef bulgogi ($4.50) is tender and delicious. Egg rolls (two for $1.50) are crispy and good, and the sushi is nice and mild. Try the pungent rice wine for a real Korean experience. DISPLAYS: Plenty of volunteers on hand to walk you through the displays set up in a classroom. Costumes, embroidery and weaving, excellent replicas of 1,000-year-old pottery and agricultural items line the room. Learn about the history of the Korean language and the first ironclad boat. SHOW: This pavilion has a fantastic show, combining beautiful dancing, drumming and impressive martial arts for an action-packed 45 minutes. The youngsters performing the Little Puppets' Dance are too cute for words. Young drummers were precise and confident in the Farmer's Dance. You'll be amazed by the athleticism of the young men and women in the taekwondo demonstration. An extremely well-rehearsed show, with a charming hostess providing background. CULTURAL HIGH POINT: The Fan Dance is a sight to behold, with well-trained dancers using huge pink and green feathered fans to make unique formations. They are the personification of grace and beauty. Cameras never stopped flashing during their performance. LOST IN TRANSLATION: Dress light, as the gymnasium becomes quite stuffy and warm.
